Job Description

Systems for Development, a US-based leading consultancy firm focused on transforming organizational performance through sustainable information and communication technology, seeks a Data Architect in anticipation of an upcoming project on Data Production and Use. The Data Architect will be responsible for translating business problems into analytical solutions and insights. S/He will be responsible for defining big data strategies, design multi-phase implementation roadmaps and ensure that data is transitioned into information to support decision making.

Job Description: 

  • Lead the development of Ghana MoH/GHS public health data management structure including the data governance framework
  • Understands the business needs, explore the existing data structure, and create a blueprint for building an integrated framework of easily accessible, secure data aligns with MoH/GHS business strategy
  • Lead the translation of business requirements into technical specifications, including data streams, integrations, transformations, databases, and data warehouses.
  • Define the data architecture framework, standards, and principles, including modeling, metadata, security, reference data such as product codes and facility categories, and master data such as sites, vendors, materials, and employees
  • Develop MoH/GHS data strategy including data model designs, database development standards, implementation and management of data warehouses and data analytics systems
  • Define reference architecture, in a pattern that MoH/GHS can follow to create and improve data systems
  • Define data flows, including which parts of MoH/GHS generate data, which require data to function, how data flows are managed, and how data changes in transition
  • Collaborate and coordinate with multiple supply chain divisions, stakeholders, partners, and external vendors
  • Develop and implement an overall organizational data strategy that is in line with business processes
  • Design models of data processing that implement the intended business model
  • Develop diagrams representing key data entities and their relationships
  • Generate a list of components needed to build the designed system
  • Design and implement effective database solutions and models to store and retrieve MoH/GHS data
  • Examine and identify database structural necessities by evaluating client operations, applications, and programming
  • Assess database implementation procedures to ensure they comply with internal and external regulations


Qualification Required & Experience:

  • Minimum Masters’ degree (preferred in IT, Data Science, Data Architecture Design and Modeling, Big Data, Computer Science, Quantitative Methods, or related field with excellent academic performance)
  • Have a solid understanding of the cloud, databases, and the applications and programs used by those databases.
  • Understands data modeling, including conceptualization and database optimization
  • Minimum 4 years of professional experience, preferably in consulting or at high-tech companies
  • Strong passion for the following topics – Advanced Data Analytics, Machine Learning, Data Management, Data Governance, Data Architecture, Data Quality Management
  • Understanding Supply Chain Control Towers
  • Strong knowledge of Visibility and Analytics Networks
  • Ability to develop strategies for data management and data production and use
  • Practical knowledge of tools, frameworks & technologies within at least one of the following categories:
  • Business Intelligence (Power BI, Tableau, Qlik)
  • Machine Learning (R, Python, SAS, SPSS)
  • Big Data (Spark, Hadoop, NoSQL Databases, Data Lakes & Platforms)
  • Cloud Platforms (Azure, Google Cloud, AWS)
  • Strong knowledge of technology trends across IT and digital and how they can be applied to companies to address real world problems and opportunities
  • Team oriented and collaborative working style, both with clients and those within the organization
  • Growth mindset, positive attitude & strong interest to solve client challenges, adapt to a changing work environment & deal with new issues
